SOC Analysts (NV2+) | GEO SPACES | Canberra (On-site)
If you're a SOC professional who wants work that's genuinely different to "business as usual", this is it.
We're hiring SOC Analysts (multiple levels) to support mission-critical networks in a Defence/intelligence-aligned environment. You'll be hands-on across detection and response, uplift security tooling, and help build the day-to-day rhythm of a SOC that's bringing new systems online over the next 12-18 months.
Location: Canberra (On-site)
Type: Full-time / Permanent
Clearance: Active NV2 required, willing to uplift to TSPV + able to meet DISA/OSA requirements
Citizenship: Australian Citizen only
Why this role will keep you engaged
- You'll work with real constraints and real stakes-the kind of environment where good security practice actually matters
- A mix of ops + engineering: you won't be stuck only watching dashboards
- New systems coming online means plenty to do: detections to tune, log sources to onboard, playbooks to sharpen, processes to tighten
- You'll collaborate with partner SOCs and security authorities-great exposure for anyone building a serious cleared cyber career
What you'll be doing
Depending on your level and strengths, you'll contribute across:
- Monitoring, detection & response (triage through to escalation and improvement)
- Vulnerability management
- Cyber Threat Intelligence (turning intel into action: detections, priorities, hardening)
- Security engineering across SIEM, endpoint, network, gateway and detection engineering
- Security advice to internal stakeholders
- Defining security requirements for operations and systems
- Change review and approvals
- Building working relationships with internal teams and external partners
What we're looking for (junior through senior)
Junior / developing SOC Analysts
- Min 2 years in security operations or 4 years in broader IT (cloud/network/endpoint/gateway)
- Comfortable learning quickly and following disciplined processes
- Scripting/coding exposure is a plus (automation, log parsing, small tools)
Senior SOC Analysts / Security Operations Engineers
- 5-10 years across the responsibilities above
- Enjoy improving how things run: detections, runbooks, metrics, workflows
- Happy coaching others and lifting team capability
- Highly regarded: experience in Defence/intelligence environments (or adjacent) and understanding of how stakeholders operate
