Description

At Tennis Australia, we’re creating a more playful world through tennis – for everyone.
From grassroots to Grand Slams, tennis brings people together, inspires communities, and builds champions on and off the court.
We’re a team of imaginative and passionate people who believe in the power of sport to make a difference. If you’re ready to help us serve up real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re committed to reflecting the communities we work and play in. We strongly encourage applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQI+ individuals, people with disability, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team and play a pivotal role in the delivery of iconic events including the Australian Open and the Summer of Tennis.
This is more than just a back-end infrastructure role. It’s your chance to lead and support critical event systems, ensure reliability under a global spotlight, and shape the IT backbone that keeps the show running on and off the court.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Manage and maintain event-critical systems and platforms, ensuring optimal performance during key timeframes.
  • Oversee VMware, Veeam, Active Directory, Office 365, and other enterprise technologies across our infrastructure.
  • Design and document procedures to ensure system resilience and event readiness.
  • Ensure all system dependencies (hardware, integrations, security) are proactively planned and in place.
  • Lead capacity planning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and upgrades to keep our IT landscape secure and scalable.
  • Provide advanced technical support, mentor junior team members, and serve as a key escalation point.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver IT projects that support both day-to-day operations and strategic growth.

About you
You’re a seasoned Systems Engineer with a passion for building and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable IT environments. You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you understand how to collaborate as part of a cross-functional team to deliver successful outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Proven experience with cloud, web, and app systems, both in-house and vendor-managed.
  • Strong expertise in APIs, system integration, and data flow management.
  • Proficient in identity management, security protocols, and access control.
  • Solid knowledge of databases, application hosting, and performance monitoring.
  • Strong collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills across technical teams.
  • Experience managing critical systems and services for large events
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia

What’s to love?

  • Career development with a range of formal education and on the job training opportunities
  • Tickets to the Australian Open plus Superbox tickets to events at Rod Laver & Melbourne Arena
  • Monthly health & wellbeing activities with access to CorePlus Pilates
  • Onsite gym, tennis facilities & free onsite car parking
  • Salary packaging & a range of discounts from our sponsorship partners
  • Attractive leave benefits - with up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave for all primary caregivers and Sorry Business and Ceremonial Leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees
  • We are proud to be recognised as an employer of choice for women by WORK180
