Position Overview:
As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our networking and cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of hardware and software systems. This role demands a strong understanding of both technical concepts and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain complex systems and networks to meet company requirements and goals.
  • Develop network layouts and strategies.
  • Implement system solutions by analyzing system specifications, diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Monitor system & network performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with web developers, and other IT professionals to integrate systems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Evaluate and test new technologies and provide recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
  • Partner in the management of system backups, data storage, disaster recovery, and security protocols.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of system upgrades, patches, and improvements.
  • Provide documentation for system configurations, updates, and procedures.
  • Work with end-users and internal teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure user satisfaction.
  • Ensure systems meet compliance, security, and regulatory standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in system engineering, IT infrastructure, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and networking protocols.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Experience with hardware components, servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, firewalls, WAF’s, encryption, and system monitoring tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with automation, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or similar.
  • Experience with database management and administration.
    Work Hours
    JALC does not offer a hybrid work schedule. All staff work together as a team, Monday through Friday at our offices (either Jazz at Lincoln Center’s administrative offices at 3 Columbus Circle or at Frederick P. Rose Hall, The House of Swing).
