Systems Engineer (m/f/d)
In this position you will contribute to the development of advanced optical in-struments in one of our large space projects. After a close collaboration period with experienced colleagues, you shall become responsible for the simulation of the instrument’s performances and datasets, for the derivation of requirements on sub-system level as well as for the maintenance of technical budgets.

Your Tasks

  • Elaborate and model the performance of an electro-optical instrument considering of all possible contributors like, for example, optical design and detector characteristics or structural stability.
  • Ensure proper flow-down of customer requirements to technical re-quirements and/or subsystem requirements. Allocate technical budgets accordingly.
  • Development and analysis of instrument calibration concepts for on-ground and in-flight
  • Regularly update the system’s technical budgets during the program life-time.
  • Perform or support instrument design trade-offs, identify and analyze mitigation options.
  • Define work packages together with different internal specialists and with external sub-contractors in a multidiscipline engineering team (Optics, Mechanics, Thermal, Structure).
  • Align the activities with the systems engineering work plan.
  • Review of sub-contractor analysis results (e.g. analytical models) and documents, like technical proposals, technical reports, or specifications.
  • Monitor the compliance to customer requirements.
  • Support technical discussion with customer or supplier.

Your Qualifications

  • University / polytechnic degree or PhD in in scientific or engineering subject (e.g., Physics, Aerospace Engineering)
  • Proficient in at least one of the following categories: technical and physical optics, spectrometry and optical instruments; hands-on experience in the application of control theory and de-tailed knowledge concerning the definition of control systems; mathematical modelling and simulation
  • Experience with the programming languages Python and/or MATLAB and data processing.
  • Strong analytical skills, good communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English in reading and writing
  • NATO/EU citizenship
