Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. As a Systems Engineer with MTSI you will provide technical leadership in the development, documentation, and integration of design specifications, system requirements, engineering management plans, implementation planning, and test plans as part of a team with senior executives, project managers, data scientists, and engineers to ensure the technical integrity of assigned missions. This position will be in or near Annapolis Junction, Maryland or San Antonio, TX. Your essential job functions will include but will not be limited to: Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems. Lead in the development, review, and/or approval of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents Manage system and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s) Support the planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process (as well as other Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes) Provide technical support to the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents (i.e., Initial Capability Document, Capabilities Description Document, IA Strategy) Serve as a Configuration Control Board (CCB) member and/or coordinate the resolution of CCB action items from meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination. Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities. Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components. Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions. Develop scenarios (threads) and an Operational Concept that describes the interactions between the system, the user, and the environment, that satisfies operational, support, maintenance, and disposal needs. Manage and ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline over time. Develop alternative courses of action, workarounds, and fallback positions. Participate within Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) efforts. Develop design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth. Support innovation and digital transformation initiatives across MTSI. 4+ years work experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government. A Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required, or 5+ years of additional systems engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teaming abilities. Qualifications Desired: Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Self-starter, able to take initiative and accomplish work independently with minimal guidance. Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with 12+ years of related experience. Consideration may be given for additional academic credentials or relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field with 7+ years of related experience. Certifications Requirements : N/A Clearance Requirements : TS/SCI clearance and CI Polygraph with eligibility for Full Scope Polygraph. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
