Description
As a Systems Engineer with MTSI you will provide technical leadership in the development, documentation, and integration of design specifications, system requirements, engineering management plans, implementation planning, and test plans as part of a team with senior executives, project managers, data scientists, and engineers to ensure the technical integrity of assigned missions. Essential Job Functions System Design and Architecture: Develop and design system architecture and software solutions based on requirements and specifications. Create detailed design documents, including diagrams and models, to guide development. Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements. Ensure that requirements are clear, complete, and consistent. Software Development: Write, test, and maintain high-quality code for software systems. Utilize various programming languages and tools to develop software components and modules. Satellite Modeling Model satellite systems including sensor operations System Integration: Integrate software components and third-party applications into the overall system. Ensure seamless communication and interoperability between different system parts. Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute test plans to verify the functionality, performance, and security of software systems. Identify and fix defects and issues through rigorous testing processes. Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze system performance to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Optimize the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of software systems. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, project managers, and stakeholders. Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and industry trends. Advocate for and implement process improvements and best practices. Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with software development and system operations. Develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues. Project Management: Plan and manage software development projects, including task allocation, scheduling, and tracking progress. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Required Qualifications and Skills 2+ years work experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government. Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python Strong Understanding of software development tools, frameworks, and libraries Proven problem solver Experience with database management and data modeling Experience in satellite and sensor modeling Experience to (or familiarity with) DevSecOps [or at least CI/CD] Strong skills in designing and implementing system architectures and software solutions Experience with version control systems and configuration management tools Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teaming abilities. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Self-starter, able to take initiative and accomplish work independently with minimal guidance. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to change Education Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required Certifications Desired: COMPTIA Security + / CISSP DESIRED Clearance Requirements: TS/SCI clearance and consent to CI Polygraph U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
