About you We are seeking applicants with: Over 4 years’ engineering experience Practitioner-level exposure to Systems Engineering disciplines such as: Requirements Management System Architecture Systems Integration Verification & Validation Experience working with complex systems (desirable) Exposure to defence environments or ASDEFCON frameworks (desirable) Education & Eligibility Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or relevant discipline. Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance – NV1 Ability to access ITAR-restricted information Technical Competence Understanding of systems engineering principles Familiarity with tools such as DOORS or Cameo Systems Modeler Strong analytical and problem-solving capability Professional Attributes Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to convey technical information clearly Adaptability and willingness to learn Ability to work in dynamic environments Professionalism aligned with Saab values — Trust, Drive, Expertise The opportunity As a Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the development, integration, testing, and support of software-intensive systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will assist in designing and implementing system solutions while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and project expectations. You will also participate in creating technical documentation, supporting validation activities, and staying current with emerging engineering tools, technologies, and practices. Key Responsibilities Core Engineering Activities Gather and analyse system requirements from stakeholders Support development of requirements documentation and traceability Assist in system architecture and design specification work Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback Support integration of hardware and software components Work with senior engineers to configure and implement system solutions Develop and execute system test plans Participate in functional, integration, and system-level testing Troubleshoot and resolve integration and performance issues Validate systems against operational needs and performance benchmarks Prepare test and validation documentation Development, Deployment & Support Contribute to change management of engineering baselines Participate in design reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR Liaise with project engineering teams to align scope and resolve risks Support installation, configuration, and maintenance activities Assist with training material and user documentation General Requirements Work in alignment with Saab’s Code of Conduct Adhere to company processes, policies, and safety standards Perform additional duties as required About us Saab Australia is a defence, security and cyber solutions provider, specialising in the development and integration of major defence and security systems.
