Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer – Space Systems to support a mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) program. The Systems Engineer will provide full lifecycle systems engineering and integration support for advanced space-based and ground-based defense systems. This position will be onsite in Colorado Springs, CO!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE SYSTEMS ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • 9+ years of experience in systems engineering or systems integration.
  • Deep understanding of:
  • Leading hardware/software or space/ground integration efforts.
  • Model-based systems engineering tools and methods.
  • Systems architecture and lifecycle support.
  • Agile and DevOps development processes.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Willingness to be nominated for SCI and SAP access and to undergo a polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical discipline.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional certifications (e.g., INCOSE CSEP, ITEA CTEP, Agile PM/PO, PE).
  • Experience in National Security Space or Space Control mission areas.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government weapons system program offices.
Responsibilities
  • Provide systems engineering expertise across the entire lifecycle from concept development to operations for space-based and ground-based systems, including command and control services.
  • Oversee technical development efforts including design, development, integration, testing, production, and sustainment using both traditional and agile acquisition methodologies.
  • Develop operational concepts, system requirements, and architectural designs; perform requirements flow-down and propose verification strategies.
  • Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE), simulation, and analysis to support system development.
  • Maintain configuration management of the technical baseline.
  • Lead risk management activities, identifying and mitigating program risks.
