POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This opportunity will provide systems engineering and system level integration support to the MSFC for the Space Launch System (SLS) Spacecraft Payload Integration Element as part of the MSFC Systems Requirements and Verification Branch (EV72) in the MSFC Systems Engineering and Integration Division (EV70).
The successful candidate will coordinate and interface with multiple engineering disciplines, systems elements, and the SPIE Lead Systems Engineer, participating in reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies.
The candidate will support the development and definition of interfaces for the sub-elements and interfaces between Integrated Spacecraft and Payload Element (ISPE) sub-elements, other SLS vehicle elements, and the Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) and Orion spacecraft programs. Candidate will manage the integrated element architecture through appropriate change management processes for documents and/or deliverables which may include, but is not be limited to, interface documents, design definition documents, functional schematics, trade study reports, and other technical briefing/decision packages.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Masters with at least 3 years of experience, or a BS with at least 5 years of experience.
The candidate is required to have:
Excellent oral, written, and customer relation skills, and be proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).Are required to be self-directed, effective team players familiar with working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment who are willing to assume lead roles in the SLS requirements management, verification, and validation planning effort.

Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific support that will be provided and performed by the candidate includes:
Manage the SPIE integrated element architecture through development and maintenance of the SPIE internal interfaces specification, the SPIE side of the SPIE-to-Core Stage specification, and the SPIE side of the External Program interfaces (EGS and Orion)
Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes and interactions in the systems engineering processes and document them in the NASA Risk Management System.
