SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer Team Supervisor to support The Enhanced Polar System (EPS) program in San Diego, CA. EPS provides continuous, 24-hour Extremely High Frequency (EHF) protected satellite communications (SATCOM) capability to forces operating in the (above 65 degrees North latitude). EPS consists of four segments: Gateway (includes the interface with the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN)), Mission Control, Payload (includes Host Space Vehicle (SV) and Ground Station accommodations), and Terminal. The Sponsor is the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC)/Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Wing (SMC/MCSW). The EPS-Gateway (GW) Segment includes a primary and a secondary gateway site. The segment provides connectivity between polar users and mid-latitude users via the terrestrial Global Information Grid (GIG) to gain access to DISN services. SSC-PAC shall be responsible for the development, assembly, and installation of the GW Network Equipment, GW to DISN Interface Equipment and Network Management for the EPS-GW Segment. At the YD-II level, the selectee will serve as a Systems Engineer Supervisor on the Enhanced Polar System Gateway development project. JOB DUTIES: Provide engineering technical support to the development of the EPS GW design documentation that includes the Systems Requirements Specification (SRS) and the System Subsystem Design Document (SSDD). Provide network expertise for implementing the GW side of the DISN interface on the GW equipment. Work with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Integrated Product Team (IPT) to define the details of the DISN Interface Configuration Document (ICD). Help define and implement the configuration of the GW networking equipment for internal IP routing, serial circuit delivery and terminal connectivity. Assist with the implementation of the network management tool for monitoring the GW infrastructure. Assist with the design and implementation of mechanisms, commands and routing configurations specific to the transition between GW sites. Provide support during the development and integration phase of the project; includes assisting with the development and testing of the prototype and engineering model. Support the team as the supervisor handling weekly timecard approvals, travel related spending approvals and other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors in electrical engineering , computer science, or information technology and five (5) years or more experience. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start. Knowledge of Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS. Knowledge of Circuit to Packet (CTP) devices, Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Knowledge: Systems: Windows, Cisco Systems, UNIX, Linux, Novell. Previous work experience with dealing with DISA Teleports. Familiar with Network Management software tool (e.g. HP Open View). Skilled in use of Visio software for production of laboratory wiring diagrams.
Responsibilities
