RThe Boeing Portal in Fleet, Hampshire houses the Strategic Experimentation & Analysis team whose role is to conduct Operational Analysis, Simulation and Modelling in support of Boeing UK and Europe.
The purpose of the role is to work within an established team of Operational Analysts with experience in the Air, Maritime, Land, Cyber and Space domains, to deliver independent, focused and defensible analysis on behalf of European governments and National Defence requirements. The analysis work undertaken within the Boeing Portal focusses on the provision of hard quantitative evidence that can be used to support business cases for multiple high-level decisions across a broad portfolio of activities.
Candidates must therefore have a mathematical background and be comfortable with the provision of empirical evidence in the Defence and Security domains. In addition, the successful candidate should have a broad background in Operational Analysis or Statistics tools and techniques, including Multi-criteria Decision Analysis, Discrete Event Simulation, Gap Analysis, Regression Analysis and Forecasting, and have the motivation and confidence to work directly with customers and other Boeing colleagues.
Typical Focus Areas are as follows:
Market Analysis: Reviewing potential military uses of Boeing products through quantitative means to support the growth of the Boeing business for new and existing markets.
Force Structures Analysis: Using the full spectrum of Operational Research techniques (soft and hard) to develop internal and external customers’ understanding of their future defence requirements, identification of capability gaps and the analysis of potential solutions.
Platform Level Assessment: This includes applying a broad range of quantitative techniques to support customers in the down-selecting of platform options through the identification of suitable measures of effectiveness. This analysis must be robust and independent with the expectation that it will be used in support of external Customer Reports and Business Cases.
Cost Analysis: High level cost analysis of platform solutions to provide an empirical measure of comparison enabling cost-capability trade studies in support of customer prioritisation in increasingly constrained budgetary environments.
Use of Operational Research: Statistics and Management Science techniques to provide qualitative and quantitative insights to enable decision support. Use of forecasting and optimization tools to provide Decision Support directly to a customer or to integrate them into Discrete Event Simulations as part of an Experimental Campaign.
Operational Research: Report writing and the incorporation of Operational Analysis Data into Customer Business Cases. Ideally you will hold a degree in a Mathematical or Science subject. You will also have an understanding of analysis requirements within the defence sector.
The Operations Analyst is also required to perform the following:
