QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERTISE

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.
  • Broad-based generalist background preferred over narrow specialization.
  • Experience in image processing techniques and/or optical systems design.
  • Strong background in system specification tradeoffs, product development, and integration of complex systems (preferably medical electronic instruments).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities.
  • Knowledge/experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
  • Medical electronic instruments or ophthalmic instruments
  • Imaging or non-imaging optics, image processing, machine vision systems, human vision
  • Modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, LabVIEW, Mathematica)
  • PC applications and OEM integration
  • Displays
  • Medical safety/regulatory agency compliance testing and requirements

Responsibilities
  • Provide direction and leadership in system architecture and design.
  • Define, specify, and validate systems and subsystems for complex product development.
  • Develop, verify, and validate algorithms and contribute to overall system integration.
  • Work as part of the systems design group within R&D and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, and others).
  • Partner with Marketing and Engineering teams to define, analyze, and document specifications for tradeoffs, performance, features, controls, and product operations.
  • Lead system integration across specialist areas of a product.
  • Plan and conduct detailed reviews, testing, and verification/validation of product features.
  • Analyze and validate system performance through simulation, testing, and measurements.
  • Propose and develop enhancements to existing products and drive implementation.
  • Provide technical direction at the systems level to other team members.
