Summary
We are looking for a “Systems Engineer with a focus on software architecture and methodology (f/m/d)” for the “Engineering Sights” development department at the Wetzlar site as soon as possible.
Within the “Engineering Sights” development department, various disciplines such as software, optics, electronics and mechanics are combined to develop high-quality optronic vision systems.
Our observation devices combine information from multiple sensors operating at visible and infrared wavelengths to provide the user with reliable information even under the most challenging conditions and ensure the success of their mission.

Your Tasks

  • Technical management and coordination of system engineers and software architects with a focus on complex (embedded) software for naval and ground-based systems
  • Coordination and revision of customer requirements with regard to (embedded) software and transfer into technical specifications for an overall system
  • Selection, coordination and specification of self-contained subsystems that are taken over by the interdisciplinary teams or by external contractors
  • Supporting cost estimates for the preparation of offers in close cooperation with the interdisciplinary team
  • Creating presentations for customers and the business unit as well as participating in customer meetings in order to present and represent complex software contexts of the overall system in an understandable way
  • Proactively developing solutions together with the system engineers of the interdisciplinary teams, taking costs, quality and time into account
  • Coordination with the business units regarding future requirements for software, methodologies, norms, standards and laws, e.g. functional safety, data security
  • Developing measures for the introduction of methodologies as well as regulatory and legal requirements in the interdisciplinary teams in collaboration with the “Engineering Services” department
  • Introducing and summarizing customer requirements to define a module-based software architecture for the “Data Analysis & Fusion” and “Smart Sensors” departments involved in development
  • Supporting the department in defining future specialist skills required in the interdisciplinary teams with a focus on software development

Your Profile

  • Completed studies in the field of systems engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or comparable training
  • Several years of experience in systems engineering of technically complex systems with high software content
  • Several years of management experience
  • Sound experience in handling developments with and for external partners
  • Experience in the technical management of agile teams in embedded software development
  • Experience in coordinating with international and intercultural customers is advantageous
  • Very good knowledge of software standards, norms and models
  • Knowledge of other technical disciplines such as mechanics, optics and electronics and their interaction in products
  • Strong methodological skills in finding solutions and making decisions, ideally supported by Six Sigma training (Green Belt, Black Belt)
  • Very structured, self-organized and analytical way of working
  • Distinct business-oriented way of thinking and working
  • Business fluent in German and English
