POSITION DESCRIPTION

BlackSea is in search of highly motivated Systems Engineering Lead / Chief Engineer candidates for a major DoD program pertaining to small uncrewed surface vessels (sUSV).

The Systems Engineering Lead reports to Program Manager and has the following functions:

  • Acts as the single technical authority on all program efforts
  • Leads cross-disciplinary teams of engineers in achieving Program Technical objectives. Approximately 25 engineers report up to this position through multiple team leaders.
  • Manages the technology systems and integrations include hull, machinery, electrical, communications, perception, autonomy and payloads.
  • Sets program technical objectives and creates technical roadmaps
  • Implements Engineering processes across the project to meet program and company objectives
  • Manages the process of Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) including managing the process of collects and tracks Trouble Reports
  • Produces and publishes regular reliability reports to the customer
  • Conducts Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Makes recommendations for engineering changes to improve reliability and leads those design efforts
  • Interfaces directly with the customer on reliability issues

The fulltime position is based out of Baltimore, MD
Occasional travel may be required; less than 10% monthly

Candidates must:

  • Be a US Citizen
  • Have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a related engineering field from an ABET accredited school
  • Have 12+ years progressive work experience
  • Be highly motivated and well organized
  • Have demonstrated experience with technical communication and customer interfacing
  • Be capable of complex problem solving
  • Be capable of managing projects to technical and schedule constrains and task small to medium teams
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office products

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Systems Engineering experience
  • Experience in the maritime domain
  • Technical understanding of boat hull, propulsion and electrical systems
  • Experience with robotic or uncrewed / unmanned systems including autonomy, perception and communications
  • Experience with US Government and Department of Defense (DOD) customers and processes
  • Have experience with SolidWorks CAD parts, assemblies, and drawings
  • An active Security Clearance

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
