7. Provides overall management and operational support for Forestry’s LAN including configuration, installation and maintenance of hardware, software, LAN systems and network security. Manages and supports the operation, configuration and upgrade of the Faculty’s servers (both Windows and Linux). The systems manage is responsible for

• Active Directory 2003.
• Antivirus management.
• Data backup services for Faculty core services.
• Routing and networking in a multi-segment switched Ethernet LAN environment.
• DNS and DHCP services.
• iSCSI SAN for the Faculty’s storage needs

In collaboration with the Departmental IT staff, the manager is jointly responsible for:

• perimeter firewall services,
• email services.
• virtualized production servers.
• desktop deployment and management
• patch management.
• Image deployment processes for the undergraduate computer laboratories
