Description
Imagine what you could do here. The Exploratory Design Group (XDG) is seeking a Systems Modeler Engineer to help us bridge the gap between theoretical physics and engineering reality. We are a diverse team of computational scientists, device physicists, and hardware engineers working to create technologies that do not exist yet. DESCRIPTION We are looking for a "technical utility player”: an experienced physicist or engineer with a strong mathematical bent who can adapt to whatever challenge the day brings. One month you might be modeling thermal noise in a novel sensor; the next you might be writing high-performance C++ code to simulate a complex system. You don't need to be an expert in everything, but you must have the fundamental physics intuition and coding skills to dive into new fields and solve problems that strictly hardware-focused or strictly software-focused teams cannot. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field with 10 years relevant industry experience. Experience building mathematical models of physical phenomena (e.g., thermal, electronic, or optical systems). Experience programming with Python, C++, or similar. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field with 5+ years of industry experience in a hardware, electronics, or R&D environment. Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, C++, or similar) with a track record of writing code to solve engineering problems. Broad Physics Background: Experience in the consumer electronics or semiconductor industry, with exposure to sensors, noise modeling, or signal chains. Mathematical Depth: Proven expertise with partial differential equations, linear algebra, nonlinear dynamics, or statistical modeling. Signal Processing: Experience applying math to clean up or interpret real-world sensor data. Adaptability: A history of taking on "undefined" technical tasks—learning the necessary math or physics on the fly to unblock a project. Communication: Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts to hardware engineers and management.
Responsibilities
The Systems Modeler Engineer will bridge the gap between theoretical physics and engineering reality by modeling physical phenomena and writing high-performance code. The role requires adaptability to tackle various challenges in technology development.
