Cox Engineering’s Energy and Sustainability team is seeking a Systems Specialist – Building Automation Systems (BAS). The ideal candidate shall be responsible for BAS field work: commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting. The individual should be an effective communicator who adheres to safety protocols and Cox’s core values.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically able to perform work on active construction sites, including lifting tools and materials, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical rooms and rooftop environments.
Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of building automation systems on new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Read and interpret engineering documents to support accurate installation and programming of BAS components.
  • Perform point-to-point checkout, device verification, and functional testing.
  • Ensure field devices, control panels, and wiring are installed according to plans, specifications, and sequences of operation.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to controls, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
  • Participate in customer training sessions and system turnover as needed.
  • Follow direction from PMs and maintain clear communication with the project team.
  • Adhere to all site safety protocols and OSHA standards.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in BAS hardware and software – Delta or Tridium N4 certification is a plus.
  • Ability to read control drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to work as required by construction schedules.
