Job Title: Systems Support Specialist
Department: Technology
Reports To: Director of System Support
Compensation Range: $73,000

SUMMARY:

The System Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Epic’s data is properly loaded into various information systems representing Epic’s core and supplemental curricula. The S3 maintains technical ownership of curricula and other systems. Successful candidates should have the following experience and characteristics:

  • An eagerness to learn and understand a broad array of learning management systems
  • High standards for quality of work, and a reflex to improve at every turn;
  • Problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills.
  • A strong sense of ownership for assigned deliverables.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An information-related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to present effectively and persuasively
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to learn information systems quickly, be comfortable working both independently and as a team, and be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic educational environment
  • Experience with Google Drive and Google Sheets [including functions: vlookup(), unique(), importRange(), etc.]
  • Preferred: Clever experience as either a technical lead or district administrator
  • Passionate commitment to the mission of school choice
  • Ability to maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from families or members of the business community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced Excel skills (required.) Familiarity with Access and Google Sheets. Computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office and Google Suites required.
  • Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made
  • Must have favorable employment references

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

  • Understand and troubleshoot daily automatic rostering and course loading for learning systems, including the related APIs, LTIs, SSOs, SFTPs, data syncs, and automation used to move data from source systems to those learning systems
  • Author and revise documentation describing these data flows, duties performed in assigned curricula, rollover procedures, etc.
  • Utilize Jira to create stories for any issues that arise in the automation; work with other technology teams (developers, Business Analysts, Database Administrators, etc.) to fix the issues
  • Perform manual data loading for systems as needed
  • Utilize the Technology Service Desk to respond to questions and complete tasks for faculty, staff, students, and parents, including access requests, co-teaching assignments, enrollment changes, password resets, and other loading issues within learning systems.
  • Track the status of learning systems that are down or degraded and advise when normal operation is restored.
  • Correspond and lead meetings with curriculum vendors for implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Understand all current and upcoming integrations related to learning systems.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, moral, and responsible
  • Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Epic Charter School and follow directives from supervisor(s)
  • Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
