BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with Assembly and Test of aerospace hardware and/or ground support equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, requirements and operating instructions for test/troubleshooting purposes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical requirements to accomplish task objectives.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and small spaces.
  • Availability to work extended hours, weekends, and 2nd or 3rd shifts as necessary to support vehicle processing and launch.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Availability for periodic travel to other ULA sites.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD TS/SCI is required. US citizenship is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active DoD (TS/SCI) is preferred. US Citizenship is required.
  • General understanding of launch operations processes and protocol.
  • Exposure to operations in a high security and / or high cleanliness controlled environment.
  • Exposure to working in a highly integrated schedule environment where operations must execute in conjunction with customer testing / closeout work.
  • Two years of related aerospace, engineering, or systems test engineering experience
Responsibilities

This engineering function is responsible for spacecraft customer integration and processing of flight hardware for Atlas V and Vulcan launch vehicles as well as the associated ground support equipment in a team-oriented environment based at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) with travel to Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB).

The Launch Operations Payloads Engineer RS-2 will:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in task execution with increasing levels of responsibility as the Person In-Charge of installation and test of critical, high-value mechanical and electrical flight hardware and GSE in support of payload integration for Launch.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate task objectives, requirements, and obstacles to an integrated team of aerospace assembly & test technicians.
  • Maintain close coordination with the spacecraft customer personnel and ULA mission integration to ensure integration with spacecraft interface controls and full compliance with mission unique requirements.
  • Develop and maintain test procedures/plans, maintenance procedures/plans and other types of launch processing documents – incorporating lessons learned from previous tasks and through coordination with various stakeholders.
  • Proactively engage with Launch Ops team and Denver team to ensure equipment is maintained in a state of readiness – mods integrated and performed accurately and on time, maintenance performed accurately and on time.
  • Continually improve and develop design/process improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle/systems performance.
  • Seek out additional opportunities for skills growth and cross training across launch operations.
  • Support payload processing operations for commercial, planetary, and national security space missions.
