Canadian Natural is seeking a Field Operator for the Bitumen Production (BP) Tailings team, reporting to the Tailings Shift Team Lead. Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands Site Shift schedule: 7 x 7, 12-hour shifts (rotating days/nights) Safety sensitive position: Yes Application deadline: February 19, 2026 Key Accountabilities: Communicate with a team of field operators and panel operators on a regular basis to foster a teamwork environment by assisting in all areas as required Operate all equipment using most current Standard Operating Procedures Shut down and provide safe isolation of all process equipment for maintenance activities as required Complete shift log entries, monitor operations and submit maintenance requests Work with engineering and process personnel to optimize safety, production and environmental targets Ensure housekeeping in your area is kept at a high standard Develop a clear understanding of plant process and controls and operate the plant to meet production, quality and environmental targets Make decisions regarding the best use of resources Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations by providing appropriate field support What You Bring to the Role: High School Diploma or GED is required however, successful completion of the Keyano Operators course will be an asset 5 plus years’ experience in a large integrated plant site or oil sand operating facility Valid Class 5 driver’s license Demonstrate common sense approach when analyzing problems, be self-managed and “think outside the box” for continuous plant and process improvements Willingness to learn and seek opportunities to grow A component of the role is related to working on and around water (SVOP, MEDA3 or higher is considered an asset) boat, dredge and barge work is part of the role Previous experience with loader and or skid steer an asset What We Offer: Competitive salary, stock options, company matched stock savings plan, annual bonuses 100% Employer paid extended Health, Dental and Vision Benefits May be eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Policy May be eligible for additional premiums Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta First class camp facilities Health & Wellness Spending Account Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Employee & Family Assistance Program Check out our COMPENSATION & BENEFITS to learn more about what we have to offer!
