Hatch is looking for a highly motivated Tailings Process & Transport Engineering Trainee to join our Tailings Management Practice Group in the Metals business unit. The role will be based in the Hatch Mississauga office.
Hatch has been serving the world’s mining and metals industry with studies, design, engineering, development of innovative technologies, and project and construction management through commissioning and operations for both greenfield and brownfield facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Graduate or graduating in 2026 Bachelor’s degree in Mining / Materials / Metallurgical / Mechanical / Civil / Process Engineering from an accredited University
  • Knowledge / education specializing in tailings process engineering design and construction an asset
  • Operations or previous engineering design or construction experience is an asset
  • Demonstrate good written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience developing and reading drawings including process PFD’s, PID’s, General arrangement drawings, site plans
  • Solid report writing skills
  • Solid communication and presentation skills
  • AutoCAD / MicroStation
  • Ability to travel to clients’ offices, vendor offices, and to site for periods of time
  • Basic knowledge and/or experience with the following:


    • All types of tailings process system designs



      • Process testwork specification and operating experience

      • Testing and ability to interpret results and how it fits into the overall system design
      • Processing plant concepts
      • Basic concepts for process equipment specification, sizing, and selection
      • Basic concept of transport technologies and distribution
