Description
We are looking for Taiwanese Hokkien–English bilingual speakers to join a short-term remote project supporting the development of AI language systems. In this role, you will work with real-life Taiwanese Hokkien (台語 / Tâi-gí) audio recordings and transcribe them accurately. These recordings reflect natural conversations across different accents, age groups, and speaking styles. Your work will directly contribute to making AI better understand and represent Taiwanese Hokkien in real-world contexts. If you’re comfortable working with audio, detail-oriented, and can commit a few hours a day, this project is for you. What will I be doing? Listen to Taiwanese Hokkien audio clips and transcribe them accurately Split audio into appropriate sections based on natural speech flow Label speakers when more than one voice is present Add simple tags where required (e.g. gender, age range, emotion) Follow quality and annotation guidelines carefully Communicate and collaborate with the Project Manager Project Details Duration: 2 months Time commitment: Around 4–6 hours per day Onboarding Training: Mandatory (TBD, during office hours 9am–6pm GMT +8) Working hours: Flexible (tasks can be completed anytime in the given deadline) Project period: March – April 2026 We welcome both native and non-native Taiwanese Hokkien speakers to apply. What matters most is your ability to accurately understand and transcribe spoken Taiwanese Hokkien. What do I need? Bilingual in Taiwanese Hokkien and English (required) Comfortable reading and writing in both Taiwanese and English Strong listening skills with the ability to understand various Taiwanese accents and speaking styles Native and non-native Taiwanese speakers are welcome Non-native speakers should have Band B (Level 3-4) proficiency or higher, with strong confidence in writing, listening, and reading Detail-oriented and patient, able to maintain at least 95% accuracy Willing to ask questions when unsure Laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection Ability to manage your own time and meet deadlines Willing to complete a pre-assessment as part of the screening process Bonus point: previous experience in transcription, data labelling, or AI-related projects Work remotely from anywhere Be part of an AI project representing real Taiwanese speech and accents Priority consideration for future opportunities Gain hands-on experience in AI and language data work Contribute to building smarter and more inclusive technology
