About Us
McCabes is an Australian Commercial, Government, and Insurance law firm with a reputation for providing high quality, timely legal services. Balanced with a strong internal emphasis on culture and values, we combine innovation with commercial savviness to deliver rewarding outcomes to all our clients.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic, driven, and passionate Talent Acquisition Generalist to join our Human Resources team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is suited to someone who has extensive talent acquisition experience in a similar environment or coming from a legal recruitment agency background.

Reporting to the HR Director and working closely with other HR team members, without limiting its scope, the key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Overseeing all stages of end-to-end recruitment including revision of job descriptions, internal and external advertising, candidate application management, tracking, selection, onboarding, and induction programs.
  • Working closely and building rapport with principals and divisional leaders across the firm to understand their staffing needs
  • Reviewing applications, shortlisting and screening candidates
  • Conducting thorough first and second round interviews in-person and via AVL
  • Conducting targeted searches to build a strong talent pipeline
  • Developing plans to attract top talent
  • Ensuring candidates align with the firm’s values and culture, along with the required skills
  • Maintain precise records of the recruitment process, including role stages and candidate progression
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies to brief them on approved positions
  • Ad-hoc HR Generalist project work
  • Workforce planning

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience as a talent acquisition specialist within a similar environment, preferably in law or professional services, or experience in a legal recruitment agency.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for all things recruitment
  • Advanced skills in MS office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • A willingness to learn, positive approach and strong initiative
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively deal with competing priorities and progress multiple tasks through to completion within required deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build rapport with clients
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

What We Offer
In return, McCabes will provide you with the opportunity to work with a talented team in a flexible, inclusive, and innovative environment. We also promote a culture focused on the firm’s values - integrity, excellence, and courage - that provides opportunities to develop and progress your career.
We are small enough to give you the personal attention and career development to help you reach your full potential, yet large enough to provide the challenge of diverse, high-quality work and clients.

Other benefits include:

  • Access to direct mentoring from senior members of the HR team
  • A competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives
