JOB SUMMARY: TALENT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER I

Responsible for projects, initiatives, and communications related to tactical and strategic changes in Talent Development, for the audiences of Store Operations, MWT, and Corporate Managers and Leaders

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

  • A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in project management
  • 1+ years of experience in training and development a plus
  • Experience in Leadership at H-E-B (preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Office and H-E-B systems and programs
  • Advanced interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills
  • Advanced verbal / written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong skills in project management and effective execution of plans
  • Strong leadership, delegation, and follow-up skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment
  • Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
  • Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more
  • Work extended hours; sit for extended periods
Responsibilities
  • Leads and implements Career Programs strategy roadmap with key stakeholders, creating thoughtful and innovative leadership development experiences
  • Partners with department subject matter experts and stakeholders to determine the technical and job skills curricula to be included in Career Program solutions
  • Manages and/or facilitates multiple manager and leadership programs
  • Assumes overall project management responsibility for all phases of assigned projects
  • Demonstrates and supports various training delivery methodologies
  • Assists Talent Development Leadership on special projects
  • Provides analysis and recommendations on new and existing Talent Development opportunities
  • Establishes strong working relationships with HR Leaders, Business Leaders, Operations, and Merchant Leadership to ensure Talent Development strategic initiatives are implemented in business tactics and strategy
  • Maintains control over quality, cost and schedule
  • Facilitates instructor-led training to increase engagement, learning, and on-the-job application for manager and leaders
  • Provides thought leadership through adult learning knowledge, industry best practices and techniques, and leadership development trends
  • Conducts learning needs analysis ongoing to determine content and/or performance skill gaps, based upon our strategic business needs
