Description
Description Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Permitting Specialist to join our team and support the permitting process for Above Ground Storage Tanks (ASTs) across multiple jurisdictions in the United States. In this role, you will be instrumental in navigating environmental, fire code, and regulatory requirements to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local laws. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental compliance initiatives, ensuring that AST installations, upgrades, and operations are fully permitted, documented, and in alignment with all regulatory standards. You will be responsible for staying ahead of regulatory changes, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies, and maintaining accurate records throughout the permitting process. Responsibilities: Assist in researching and tracking permitting requirements for ASTs across multiple states. Prepare and submit permit applications, modifications, renewals, and notifications in coordination with regulatory agencies. Monitor and update internal procedures based on changes in regulations and codes. Coordinate with environmental consultants, contractors, and internal teams to gather required documentation for permitting. Maintain and manage accurate records of all permits, approvals, inspections, and related communications. Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies, resolving any permitting issues and clarifying compliance requirements. Support internal audits and provide necessary documentation for environmental inspections or compliance reviews. Assist with preparing and updating AST registration databases and compliance tracking tools. Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and resolve potential compliance issues. Requirements Associate or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Policy, or related field preferred. 1–3 years of experience in environmental permitting, compliance, or regulatory affairs; experience with ASTs or similar infrastructure is a plus. Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, NFPA 30, SPCC rules, fire code). Excellent research, organizational, and document management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across teams. Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Travel: Occasional travel may be required for inspections, agency meetings, or field assessments.
