Description

The Task Force Chief Engineer is a pivotal role at Naples Hotel Group and is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance operations of a diverse portfolio of hotels. This includes all components of building maintenance and upholding the standards of the hotel brands and Naples Hotel Group. This is a hands-on position, and the Task Force Maintenance Tech is responsible for completing the work, not managing or facilitating it. Your primary focus will be to enhance each guest’s experience through the maintenance department, making this a unique and rewarding opportunity.
This position will report to the Director of Corporate Facilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/revenue management/marketing/hospitality profession. This includes the knowledge needed to manage people, complex problems, and efficient sales activities. Make decisions within the standards of the position, which can impact more than one department.

Standard Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, with excellent grammar and communication skills (written and verbal)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Three to five years’ experience as a Chief Engineer or facility engineer in a hospitality-related environment.
  • Effective communication is key in this role. You must be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with guests and staff. Proficiency in English
  • is a must.
  • Basic smartphone, computer, and keyboard skills are essential for this role. You should be comfortable using Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and web-based search engines. Familiarity with our digital work order platform, Quore, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, National, State, and Local building regulations and codes, equipment operations, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, Verdant Systems, refrigeration, carpentry, painting, drywalling, carpeting repair, and safety operating systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is on their feet for most of their shift and requires a great deal of standing, walking, bending, stretching, lifting, pulling, twisting, using arms and hands, and diligence. Must be able to push, lift, or pull 50 pounds.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hours Required: This is a salaried position; 45-50 hours per week is required, depending on the demands of the hotel. This is not an 8-4 weekday job; it may require weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to always be on call for property maintenance needs and work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Employee must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
  • Upon employment, all employees must fully comply with Naples Hotel Group rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the hotel facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Corporate Facilities and the specific hotel General Managers. Together, you will routinely inspect properties, identifying current and potential safety items, cleanliness, and/or maintenance needs, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
  • Develop a regular schedule to cover the multiple hotels and notify the day location using the NHG Travel Calendar.
  • On call 24/7 should any urgent maintenance needs arise from the hotel general manager, director of corporate facilities, or regional director of operations. Name and phone number will be included on the contact list for emergency fire safety monitoring.
  • Review and prioritize maintenance issues, guest complaints, and work orders using our digital work order platform, Quore. Simple tasks and work orders can be assigned to the hotel maintenance technician but must be explained, and they must fully understand the objective and timeline for completion. The position must complete the more involved and complex tasks and work orders at the specified hotels.
  • Troubleshoot, perform, and complete operations derived from the Quore system from the property including but not limited to refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventative maintenance, Hotel front and back of house spaces, A/C units, ice machines, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, fire and life safety systems, and other systems and equipment owned, leased or managed by the hotel.
  • Prioritizing hotel room inventory by determining the best course of action to return rooms in working order. The first preference is to complete the work with in-house labor, including the Area Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program schedule for guestrooms, meeting rooms, public spaces, back-of-the-house spaces, kitchens, and all hotel equipment tracked using our digital platform Quore.
  • Perform monthly tool and stock inventory and request purchases from the hotel general manager.
  • Assist in developing the budget for the maintenance department and maintaining it throughout the year.
  • Maintain cleanliness of grounds and attractiveness of landscaping. Set up quarterly walks with the landscaping representative and the general manager to maintain quality and follow up on any issues.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all workspace and storage areas
  • Obtain multiple bids for repairs and replacements, and work with the Director of Corp. Fac. for any contracts for all items placed under a maintenance agreement and landscaping contracts.
  • Follow up on all completions of contract-covered programs, such as elevators, HVAC preventative maintenance, landscaping, pools and spas, fire and life safety, generators, and grease traps.
  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. This commitment to safety and compliance is a cornerstone of our operations, ensuring a secure and regulated work environment for all.
  • Ensure the pool is maintained correctly, including cleanliness and chemical content, and that all state inspections are up to code. Replacement of broken gauges, hoses, and filter/chemical pumps.
  • Maintain the building exterior if not served by a contractor (e.g., lawn care, painting, EIFS repairs. Schedule and follow up on approved annual pressure washing and

  • Respond to all emergencies following emergency policy and procedures. This will also include preventative measures, such as completing an annual fire drill and preparing for storms and hurricanes for the specified hotels.
  • Completing all required shift paperwork and reports accurately and on our digital work order platform
  • Attend all assigned scheduled meetings.
  • Greeting each guest you encounter during your shift with a friendly smile.
  • Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Follow hotel procedures for reporting and turning in lost and found articles.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to resolve service requests or problems.
  • Ensure guests and associate safety by following established security procedures, including emergency procedures and key security, and protect guests and company confidential information.
  • Follow all company and safety procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, and complete safety training and certifications.
