JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly dependable and technically skilled Accounting/Tax Manager to join our small public accounting firm. In this leadership role, you will manage a portfolio of clients and oversee the work of a team of 3 - 4 accountants, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance in all deliverables.
You will lead engagements, manage deadlines, provide mentorship, and support strategic initiatives. The right candidate will know when to dive in and get their hands dirty—and when staying late to meet a deadline is simply part of the job. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership without being asked, brings calm and focus under pressure. You should demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and embody our REFIT values—Reliable, Efficient, Flexible, Integrity-driven, and a Teamplayer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA highly preferred! If you’re currently sitting for the CPA exam, and will obtain it before the end of 2025, that is great!)
  • 8-10 years of public accounting experience, with at least 2 years supervising staff.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. tax law, GAAP, and private company accounting.
  • Proficiency in our tech stack would be ideal: QuickBooks, Xero, ProSeries, Gusto, Dext
  • Ability to lead multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication (both internal and external), leadership, and organizational skills.
