TAX CONSULTANT:

On behalf of our Professional Services client, Procom is searching for a Tax Consultant for a 6 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

TAX CONSULTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Tax Consultant will be involved in enhancing and developing new software features, focusing on tax calculations and compliance. The role includes working closely with engineers, tax authorities, and clients to ensure the accuracy and quality of tax products within the software platform.

TAX CONSULTANT - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Experience preparing and reviewing federal and provincial tax returns, such as T1/TP-1
  • Strong background in tax research and analysis with a deep understanding of Canadian tax law
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information and complex tax issues in non-technical language
  • Comprehensive understanding and use of tax preparation software
  • Proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written)

TAX CONSULTANT – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Prior programming/coding experience
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM and IT project management
Responsibilities
  • Identify, analyze, and accurately update tax calculations and forms within the software by creating detailed specifications for engineers
  • Test tax calculations, user experience, and form display changes within the software
  • Apply tax, accounting, and business knowledge to develop/improve new software features
  • Work with federal/provincial tax authorities to certify tax products
  • Participate in the development and documentation of key operational processes and checklists, and product specifications
  • Work with customer support representatives to resolve customer issues and deal directly with clients, as needed
  • Continually assess and drive process and tool improvements
  • Prioritize individual and team work to ensure delivery of product features with the highest quality and customer value
