ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to business growth, Whitehaven Coal has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager – Advisory to join our Group Tax team based in our Brisbane office. The role requires a person with a high level of tax advisory and compliance experience in Australian taxes.
This experience should include advising on day-to-day direct and indirect tax matters, engaging with the tax authorities on direct and indirect tax, and managing external professional advisers on pertinent direct and indirect tax matters.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provide tax advice on major transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business development opportunities.
• Provide advice on day-to-day tax matters, looking at consistency across the Whitehaven Coal group.
• Review procurement and business contracts for tax issues.
• Undertake analysis of new tax laws and the provision of advice on their application to Whitehaven Coal.
• Raise awareness of tax issues and effectively communicate tax issues to management.
• Deal with external professional service providers on tax matters, including tax governance operational effectiveness testing of tax controls.
• Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of the relationships with tax authorities.
• Assist with the management of tax compliance across the Whitehaven Coal group.
