You’ll be ACA, CTA or equivalent qualification in addition to:

  • 3-6 years post-qualification experience within a large accounting firm or in house.
  • Proven team building and team management skills.
  • Ability to work without instruction and deliver effectively under pressure even where there is significant ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to convey complex technical problems in a non-technical, succinct and easy to understand manner.
  • Willingness to challenge, innovate and drive improvements.
  • Be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with both finance and non-finance personnel across the business as well as with investors and external advisers and HMRC.
  • High levels of professionalism, business pragmatism and integrity.
  • Set the standard for top-tier tax advice and business partnering across the organization.
  • Lead the tax team with confidence, managing three direct reports and ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Own key tax areas like VAT, corporation tax, and BEPS Pillar II across the UK and Ireland.
  • Partner on M&A strategies, ensuring tax compliance and smooth transitions for new acquisitions.
  • Drive the Tax Control Framework, ensuring the highest standards of compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, shareholders, and investors.
  • Jump into operational duties when needed, while maintaining team leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to shape the tax strategy for business success
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As Tax Manager you will set the bar for excellence in the tax function, ensuring that the quality of our output, advice, and business partnerships is unmatched within the organization.

  • Lead and inspire the tax team, confidently managing three direct reports and advisers, making sure everything runs smoothly on a daily basis.
  • Own the complex stuff – from VAT to corporation tax, EGL, Corporate Interest Restriction, Corporate Criminal Offence, Senior Accounting Officer, group reporting, deferred tax, and staying on top of evolving tax legislation like BEPS Pillar II and transfer pricing across the UK and Ireland.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Senior Tax Business Partner reporting to you, driving forward tax strategies for mergers, acquisitions, and disposals and business structuring
  • Take charge of integrations by overseeing the smooth tax-side integration of newly acquired businesses, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
  • Implement and manage the Tax Control Framework with precision and authority, ensuring everything stays in line with best practices.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders, shareholders, and investors, earning their trust across the business.
  • Adapt and roll with the punches – when needed, step in to handle operational duties while keeping the team on track and motivated.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Finance to shape the tax strategy and operating model that will drive success across the entire business.
