Responsibilities

THIS ROLE WILL GIVE YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Become Upvest’s tax subject matter expert, working cross-functionally within the Operations organization and closely collaborating with key stakeholders such as the Product and Engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with ongoing tax reporting obligations, including but not limited to: Financial Transaction Tax (FTT) Vorabpauschale, FSAK reporting, FATCA and Qualified Intermediary (QI) regulations, Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and other relevant local tax requirements across jurisdictions
  • Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation across relevant markets, assessing impact and ensuring timely adaptation of internal processes
  • Collaborate with external advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment with evolving tax requirements and best practices
  • Lead the testing and validation of new tax reporting features and the implementation of tax-related tools
  • Conduct first- and second-level reviews of tax reports, including both monthly and annual reporting cycles
  • Contribute to process automation and system enhancements, working with Product and Engineering teams to streamline tax reporting and reduce operational risk
  • Develop and maintain internal tax policies and documentation, ensuring clarity, consistency, and audit readiness
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on tax-related matters, fostering awareness and compliance across the organization (e.g. the correct tax treatment of corporate actions across diverse asset classes, including equities, bonds, derivatives and mutual funds)

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, with a focus on Tax Operations, Tax Technology or Corporate Taxation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with solid knowledge of the current tax technology landscape
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent in both English and German, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Qualification as a Certified/Chartered Accountant is a strong plus
  • Experience with tax technology providers such as Objectway or CPB is a strong plus
