POSITION OVERVIEW

Navacord is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient professional to join our team as Tax Manager. This role is responsible for managing tax provisioning, compliance, and reporting for a large corporate group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to Canadian tax regulations. Reporting to the VP, Tax, you will oversee quarterly and annual tax processes, coordinate with external auditors, and provide expert support on tax-related projects, including acquisitions and restructuring initiatives.
As Tax Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our tax reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. You will work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to prepare filings, reconcile accounts, and respond to CRA inquiries, while also contributing to process improvements and automation opportunities within the tax function.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tax, Finance, Accounting or related business fields
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate taxation (experience with trusts is not required, but is an asset)
  • In-depth CPA designation (minimum Year 1)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Working knowledge of tax technology systems (CCH iFirm) and familiarity e-filing tax returns is a must
  • Strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations and compliance requirements and experience with restructuring (amalgamations, wind-ups)
  • Knowledge of indirect taxes, such as GST/HST, is an asset (though not required)
  • Familiarity with payroll taxes is an asset (though not required)
  • Experience handling a large volume of T2 corporate tax returns
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with other standard office software are essential (experience with tax automation is considered an asset)
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively
