Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing Manage Meridian’s tax affairs with integrity, ensuring compliance with New Zealand and international tax legislation, and supporting a culture of fairness and transparency. Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks, developing robust processes that reflect diverse viewpoints and encourage continuous improvement. Provide expert tax advice on business transactions, projects, and new initiatives, working collaboratively across teams and valuing input from all backgrounds. Oversee and be actively involved in the preparation and timely filing of all tax compliance obligations for Meridian and its subsidiaries. Build positive relationships with Inland Revenue, other tax authorities, and external advisors, communicating clearly and respectfully with people from all walks of life. Lead or support tax-related projects, championing system improvements and fostering an environment where everyone feels safe to contribute ideas and challenge the status quo. Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent), with substantial experience (7+ years) in New Zealand corporate tax – ideally gained in a complex, fast-paced environment. Deep understanding of New Zealand tax legislation, compliance, and reporting requirements, with the ability to keep up with changes in law and best practice. Proven ability to manage tax risk and provide expert advice on business transactions, projects, and cross-border activities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach and respect for diverse perspectives. Experience working with external advisors, tax authorities, and stakeholders from a range of backgrounds.
