We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, driven tax professional at the Manager level to join our dynamic and thriving Office of the Partner Team in Toronto. You will gain exposure to a variety of KPMG owned entities including partnerships, corporations, trusts and personal tax returns. In this role, you will also build relationships with KPMG partners across Canada and work with the leadership of the firm (CEO, CFO and Managing Partners). This role will work internally with our Office of the Partner team and is a non-client facing role.
As an integral member of our team, you will work closely as part of a small group tax team to provide to a vast array of tax compliance and advisory services for KPMG’s entities.
What you will do:
- Work collaboratively with our finance team, office of the partner team, partners, and executive leadership to lead tax compliance engagements
- Support the firm on tax planning opportunities, reorganizations, strategies, and compliance issues.
- Review corporate tax returns of partner professional corporations
- Approve tax terms and conditions in contracts with suppliers
- Support partners (current and retired) with tax questions and advice
- Manage relationships and requests with Canada Revenue Agency, provincial tax agencies, and relevant foreign tax agencies relating to income tax compliance matters in Canada and abroad.
- Report directly to the Partner, Partnership Tax Matters.
- This is an in-office role at 333 Bay Street, Toronto.
What you bring to this role:
- 4+ years’ of experience in a public accounting firm, including at least 2 years’ of experience in Tax.
- Completion of Level II of the In-Depth Tax program or Masters of Tax program.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to clearly explain complex tax and business issues.
- Strong commitment to professional and service excellence.
- Ability to research and write utilizing electronic tax tools.
- Demonstrated experience organizing and executing on engagements while acting as a trusted business advisor.
