Job Summary WellBe Human Resources is seeking a motived, energetic professional to bring their payroll tax and Dayforce Payroll skills to a growing Human Resources department. As a Payroll Tax Manager, you will be a key part of the team’s success by providing valuable collaboration with Finance, HR Operations, and other human capital functions. The Payroll Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all facets of a multi-jurisdictional payroll tax process and provides guidance and support to team members. This role serves as Subject Matter Expert and escalation point for all payroll tax-related activities to ensure a successful payroll tax operation within the department. Additionally, the Payroll Tax Manager will support regular Payroll processing functions as a valuable member of the Payroll team. Job Description Act as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others regarding payroll taxes, compliance activities and reporting. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Ensure the timely and accurate processing of quarterly and annual state, local, and federal tax filings. Key liaison with federal, state, and local income taxing authorities. Support tax audits, agency inquiries, and notices related to payroll taxes and garnishments. Oversee the annual year-end/year-begin process, W2 balancing, file validation and W-2 corrections. Apply knowledge and gather information to resolve complex tax issues and concerns as escalated from internal team and customers. Identify, recommend, and implement updates and improvements to payroll processing, procedures, and internal controls. Inform management of changes to tax requirements that impact the company and/or employees. Perform support and back up activities related to the successful processing of regular bi-monthly payrolls. Maintain all levels of confidentiality, especially with sensitive payroll information. Job Requirements Educational/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field CPP certification strongly preferred 7+ years of progressive experience in Payroll and/or Accounting or Tax Knowledge of Payroll and Payroll Tax requirements, processes, controls, and best practices Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing payment, taxation, and reporting of wages Solid knowledge of HRIS-Payroll integrated systems specifically Dayforce, Advanced Excel functions, accounting principles Required Skills and Abilities: Strong multi-tasking skills with ability to meet strict deadlines High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills Strong tax research and comprehension ability Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong consultative style with ability to support all levels of employees and management and work effectively with agency representatives. Action-oriented, adaptable, and able and thrive in a high growth environment Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with high ethical standards Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Work Environment Remote with Hybrid options following onboarding.
