Key Responsibilities 1. VAT Refund Processing Review and verify VAT refund applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with VAT legislation. Analyze supporting documents such as invoices, contracts, customs documents, and financial statements. Calculate eligible refund amounts and ensure proper application of VAT rules. 2. Tax Objections & Appeals Prepare, submit, and follow up on tax objections related to VAT refund rejections or discrepancies. Draft formal objection letters and supporting files based on legal and financial analysis. Liaise with tax authorities to clarify issues, resolve disputes, and negotiate outcomes where appropriate. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of objection and appeal procedures. 3. Compliance & Advisory Ensure all tax objection processes comply with national VAT laws and regulations. Provide internal guidance to finance, audit, and compliance teams on VAT-related matters. Identify areas of risk and propose solutions to strengthen VAT compliance. 4. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed records of all objections, refund claims, and communications with tax authorities. Prepare periodic reports on VAT refund performance, objection outcomes, and pending cases. Track updates in taxation laws and reflect changes in the VAT refund process. 5. Stakeholder Management Communicate with internal departments, external partners, and government entities. Provide clear explanations to applicants or company departments regarding VAT requirements and entitlement criteria. Participate in meetings, audits, and review sessions as needed. Qualifications & Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, or related field. Professional certifications (preferred): CTA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or tax specialization certificates. Experience 3–5 years of experience in VAT, tax compliance, tax audits, or VAT refunds. Experience handling tax objections, appeals, or dispute resolution (preferred). Knowledge of local VAT laws (e.g., GCC VAT framework if in GCC countries). Skills Strong understanding of VAT regulations, tax procedures, and refund mechanisms. Excellent analytical and financial review skills. Strong legal writing and formal correspondence abilities. Attention to detail and ability to handle complex documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
