Job Description What is the opportunity? The incumbent will be responsible for the planning and production of tax reports and returns for our investment fund clients. In order to be successful, the incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the tax reporting requirements of investment funds and strong managerial skills. The outcome will be compliant to all tax requirements and accurate and timely tax reporting for RBC Investor Services (IS) clients. What will you do? Assist and prepare tax return for trust and corporations, and information for unitholder tax reporting. Prepare T3 factors for segregated funds and trust funds. Prepare T5 factors for corporations. Compute and allocate income and gain/loss allocation for segregated funds. Administer non-taxable switch processes. Manage income trust and ETF reallocation processes. Support GST/HST administration and compliance i.e. GST/HST returns for selected listed financial institutions etc. Coordinate and support on passive foreign investment company reporting. File tax returns and communicate with CRA on matters relating to trust, corporate and HST returns including Notice of Objection. Track Notice of Assessments status for clients and provide correspondence accordingly. Assist complex corporate actions and assist external auditor by providing rationale for the tax treatment. Assist with automation and process improvement initiatives. Maintain & review desk operating procedures for general and client specific tax procedures. Assist Manager in rolling out new regulatory changes impacting tax reporting. Identify and streamline processes to improve efficiency and automation in tax processes. Provide customer service by responding to inquiries and requests from internal departments and clients. Assist senior tax reporting analyst on project-based client deliverables. Participate in pre and post year end tax meetings with clients, auditors and internal departments. Support on ad-hoc projects and cooperate with external services providers. Work with senior analysts and managers on client invoicing. What do you need to succeed? Must have: 2+ years of fund accounting or related experience in the investment fund industry or public accounting preferably in the financial services industry Accounting or business bachelor degree CPA or Working towards CPA designation Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven organizational and time management skills Nice-to-have Industry related courses (CSC, or CFA) Previous experience in preparation of trust and/or HST returns 1+ years of experience in investment fund tax reporting What’s in it for you?
