Description

About the Role
If the smell of a fresh 1040 doesn’t scare you, if you can tame a K-1 without breaking a sweat, and if you secretly giggle at tax puns (don’t worry, we all do)—then you might just be our next Tax Senior / Supervisor.
We’re looking for someone who can balance technical mastery with a very real human touch. You’ll guide clients through the twisty maze of tax law, mentor up-and-coming tax pros, and still find time to help us laugh our way through busy season. This isn’t just a job—it’s the next chapter in your career adventure, with a team that believes excellence and enjoyment can (and should) go hand in hand.

What You’ll Be Up To1. Operational Wizardry

  • Prepare and review tax returns of all stripes: 1040s, 1065s, 1120s, and 1041s (basically, the greatest hits).
  • Do tax research and planning that lets clients actually sleep at night.
  • Build and manage client relationships with a perfect mix of smarts and warmth.
  • Spot strategic tax-saving opportunities (your clients may start calling you “magician”).
  • Step in on IRS and state audits with a calm, collected, and well-caffeinated presence.
  • Help refine our processes and best practices as we continue to grow.
  1. Team Leadership—Coach, Not Micromanager
  • Lead 2–4 Tax Specialists, serving as mentor, motivator, and occasional cheerleader.
  • Keep projects and deliverables on track using our practice management system (Financial Cents—yes, less fun than actual coins, but way more useful).
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews that help your team shine brighter.
  • Be the “go-to” guide when tax conundrums arise (no question is beneath you).
  1. Content Collaboration—Because Sharing is Caring
  • Transform real client questions into great ideas for blogs, videos, or guides.
  • Share your expertise to help us create resources that are practical, engaging, and maybe even fun.
  • Join in when inspiration strikes—whether that means hopping into a video, helping draft an article, or brainstorming in a team huddle.

Who You Are

  • A CPA (or actively chasing those three magical letters).
  • A seasoned tax pro with 3+ years in public accounting—and stories to prove it.
  • Comfortable with tax software (Lacerte, ProSystem fx, or your trusty sidekick of choice).
  • A natural mentor who enjoys helping others grow into rockstars.
  • An excellent communicator who can explain tax law in plain English (or with a meme, when the moment calls).
  • A kind, curious team player with a sense of humor intact.
  • Bonus: you love mountain views (we’re based in the Roaring Fork Valley, and yes—it’s as gorgeous as it sounds).

OTA Core Values (a.k.a. How We Roll)

  • Human First: We treat people with kindness, empathy, and respect—always.
  • Team Second: Collaboration is everything. No lone-wolf CPAs here.
  • Appreciation of Humor: We take the work seriously, not ourselves. Got accounting memes? Even better.
  • Join the Party!: We show up, stay engaged, and bring our full selves—every client call, deadline, and brainstorm.

Perks & Practicalities

  • Pay: Commensurate with experience.
  • Flexibility: Average 35 hours a week year-round, with a short sprint (~55 hours) during peak season. Bonus: outside of tax season, Fridays = closed.
  • Remote Culture: We’re a crew that rows together—even if our “boat” is Zoom-shaped.

✨If you’re ready to lead, laugh, and help clients conquer the tax code with confidence, we’d love to meet you.
