We look forward to having you join our team and being a part of our mission SUMMARY The Shift Manager is directly responsible to ensure the safety of the casino, employees, customers, and Tribal assets during their shift.  They must strive to ensure a pleasing experience for all customers who enter into our facilities.  Additionally, the Shift Manager must ensure compliance with all applicable laws, policies and procedures.     ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Directly responsible for the casino operations during their shift, protecting casino assets. * Monitors, complies, and enforces all policies and procedures. * Ensure the overall safety of employees and guests. * Responsible for disposition of all customer and employee complaints. * Monitor customer flow; ensure that all departments are staffed appropriately and serving guests. * Responsible to have overall knowledge of all department operations at all times and remain abreast of changes as they occur.   Possess willingness and ability to perform any job on the floor when necessary.  * Conduct staff meetings as needed and appropriate for his/her shift. * The Shift Manager is responsible for approving medical attention for employees injured while at work. * Accepts the duties of the Vice President/GM in his/her absence. * Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations. * Other duties as assigned.   OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have excellent customer service and communication skills both verbal and written.  Must be a team player with a positive attitude.  Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time.  Must be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner by prioritizing obligations and time.  Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality.   Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position.     EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Must be at least 21 years of age.  Must possess a high school diploma or GED.  A minimum of 5 years of management/supervisory experience at casino operation level is required.     SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Task delegation to achieve maximum results. * Enforcement of casino policies and procedures. * Maintain in-depth knowledge of all departmental operations. * May be requested to sit in interviews well as make selection recommendations for both new hires and transfers. * Perform employee disciplinary actions and corrections including hiring and terminating employees. * Kronos and employee records information like absence reports, terminations, and vacancies and personal time off requests. * Maintain safety and security in the casino including all emergency responses and reports. * Maintain open lines of communication between management and departments. * Assist with the evaluation process of personnel. * Maintains and enforces proper dress codes at all times. * May need to train either new employees as to job functions or current employees for policy & procedure changes. * Maintain key control for the management department. * Ensure that all required reports are forwarded to the Vice President/GM.   EQUIPMENT TO BE USED Will be required to use computer, copiers, fax machines, and multi phone lines on a daily basis.  Must be have full knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Suite and all other required computer software.   Will be required to use Kronos system, player’s tracking software, as well as the SDS System on a regular basis as well.   TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS May be required to lift up to 25 lbs.  Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.  May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry on occasion.         TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines.     WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud smoking environment.  Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance.  May be required to work in small, enclosed spaces. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA and MIOSHA.     COMMENTS Native American and Tribal Preference will apply.   Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment.
