TEA ROOM CO-MANAGER/JOB COACH (CATERING & HOSPITALITY)
Make a Difference While Running a Community Café
Location: East Lambrook / South Petherton area
Salary: £14 an hour
Hours: 16-24 hours a week but with potential of more if needed. Some flexibility over hours but with a commitment to cover Mondays and Tuesdays.
Contract: Permanent (short, paid trial period first)

We’re looking for an exceptional individual to join our team in a unique dual role that combines cafe management expertise with supported employment coaching. This is your chance to help run a community cafe while making a real difference in people’s lives by supporting individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Cafe Supervision:
- Oversee daily operations of our welcoming community cafe
- Manage staff schedules, inventory, and supplier relationships
- Ensure exceptional customer service and food safety standards
- Drive sales growth and manage budgets
- Create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for all customers
- Develop seasonal menus and special events
Supported Employment Coaching:
- Support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, or other barriers to employment
- Provide hands-on job coaching in cafe operations (barista skills, food preparation, customer service, cash handling)
- Develop personalized training plans and track progress
- Collaborate with external agencies, families, and support networks
- Promote independence and build confidence in the workplace
- Assist with job placement and ongoing employment support
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in hospitality/cafe management or similar customer-facing role
- Understanding of supported employment principles or disability support OR some experience in teaching or learning support OR experience supporting family members with learning difficulties
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A good sense of humour is essential
- Patience, understanding, empathy, and a person-centered approach
- Food hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
- Passion for creating inclusive environments
- Creative thinking and marketing flair to develop customer attraction strategies
- Be willing to undergo a 2 week paid trial (working interview)
Desirable:
- Qualification in supported employment, social care, or related field
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Barista training/coffee knowledge
- First aid certification
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Equality Act, Health & Safety, Food Safety)
- Driving licence and own transport
