What You’ll Do: Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of teacher education Provides instruction in auto mechanics (e.g., operating diagnostic equipment, performing major and minor tune-ups, servicing and repairing brakes and transmissions, diagnosing and repairing electrical problems, fuel systems and cooling and heating problems) and individual assistance Assesses educational needs of inmates Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training Provides instruction and individual assistance Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators Maintains discipline and/or security; counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems. Attend meetings as required Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress) Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed Sesearches, selects and recommends new teaching materials Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development Performs other duties as assigned Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - automotive mechanics & grade level as assigned*; Teacher 1, 71341, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement. NOTE: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.
