Job Details Job Location: TX-Austin Womens & Childrens Shelter - Austin, TX 78721 Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Job Category: Education Schedule: Part-time, M-TH from 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM This position is responsible for: Provides tutoring and educational instruction for school-age children; assists children with completing homework assignments, preparing for tests, and learning basic computer skills. Key Responsibilities: Teaching Responsibilities (70%) Provides individualized tutoring and educational instruction to school-age children in an emergency shelter environment. Provides computer training and education for children in an emergency shelter environment that are school age. Child Care Responsibilities (30%) Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure and healthy manner. Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in tutoring activities; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25lbs) 5-10% of the time. Work is usually performed in a normal classroom environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
