QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Social Studies endorsement required.
  • Additional endorsement in English Language Arts is preferred.
  • Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, *or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework. *

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Deep understanding of Colorado Academic Standards.
  • Desire to grow professionally, be reflective, and seek out new opportunities.
  • Experience using multiple formative and summative assessments to create flexible groups and provide differentiated instruction.
  • Experience using a range of effective instructional practices (active pedagogy) to give students support and multiple opportunities needed to meet or exceed standards.
  • Experience designing standards-based learning experiences.
  • Experience with second language development strategies integrated into core content instruction and assessments.
  • Experience with developing inquiry-based instruction and project-based learning.
Responsibilities
  • Required participation in Mapleton’s Secondary Constructing Institute (course options will be provided throughout the year)
  • Have a commitment to raising achievement for all students, including English Language Learners and those who are performing below grade level.
  • Develop lesson plans which ensure instruction is paced well, encourage students to think critically, engage all students in authentic and productive learning, and ensure smooth classroom management.
  • Design and promote a rigorous culture of learning in the classroom and school with both students and staff.
  • Modelling and instilling habits of mind to contribute to a supportive culture for all.
  • Demonstrate and model high expectations and successful relationship strategies for all students to succeed.
  • Design and deliver instructional plans based on the Colorado Academic Standards that are purposeful, engaging, and meet the differentiated needs of all students. Use district-adopted curricular resources. Conduct formative assessments that guide instruction.
  • Establish and document two-way communication with parents and students about their progress towards grade-level expectations.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with colleagues across content areas. Collaboration includes participating in planning meetings to develop integrated instruction and improve teaching practices, implementing a rigorous curriculum, authentic instruction, and multiple assessment strategies.
  • Participate in professional development and apply new learning gained.
  • Demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Work with a growth mindset.
