Because when we support immigrants, Marin becomes a place where everyone can live, work, and succeed. Position Summary Canal Alliance is seeking a bilingual Teachers Aid to join its Workforce team. This role will help the professor with Saturday’s Construction lab class. The teachers aid helps the students learn how to use different construction tools and aids the students with meeting the safety protocols. The teachers aid will assist the professor to teach the student show to read basic blueprints, learn math skills and measurements. Essential Functions • Provide teacher assistance • Build positive and respectful relationships with students • Communicate consistently and assist in identifying needs of students • Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience • Experience working with Latino, immigrant or low-income communities (preferred) • Experience working with English language learners (preferred) • Some experience with construction Qualifications- Skills and Knowledge: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required. • Effective tutoring skills • Ability to effectively communicate information verbally • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and volunteers • Ability to function with minimal supervision, follow directions, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Compensation: This is a Part-Time position starting at $32 (hourly).
Responsibilities
The teacher's aid will assist the professor in teaching students how to use construction tools and adhere to safety protocols. They will also help students learn to read blueprints and develop math skills.
