Job Title: Teacher Aide Department: Lynde School Position Summary: Provide instructional and behavioral support to students in collaboration with the educational team, assisting with lesson implementation, classroom management, and student growth in alignment with IEPs. This is a full-time, 10-month position with a 6-week summer program, requiring flexibility for meetings, family communication, and professional development. Department Gateway Longview’s Education programs support K through 12th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities: * Support the implementation of student behavioral plans in collaboration with the educational team. * Implement behavioral interventions in accordance with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training and individualized treatment plans. * Maintain timely and professional communication with teachers and related service providers regarding student behavior and progress. * Provide individualized and small-group academic support as directed by the teacher to help students meet learning goals. * Contribute to lesson planning, instruction, and classroom activities under teacher guidance. * Actively supervise assigned student(s) to ensure safety, engagement, and compliance with IEPs and behavior support plans. * Assist in maintaining a supportive classroom environment by preparing displays, organizing special activities, transporting students when needed, and engaging with families in coordination with the teacher. * Accurately complete required documentation, including behavioral incidents, interventions, attendance, school notes, and outcome data, to support student monitoring and program accountability. * Participate in required training and professional development opportunities. * Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing classroom needs * Competency in implementing behavior strategies and interventions following TCI training * Collaborative team member with the ability to work independently * Experience working with students with disabilities and/or diverse learning needs * Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism * Ability to utilize physical restraints in accordance with safety protocols youth after successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training Qualifications * U.S. High School Diploma * Pertinent experience and/or training * Valid New York State driver’s license An EEO/AA Agency We want to emphasize that the preferred qualifications are not required and that we are committed to helping our future colleagues develop these preferred skills.
