JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking to appoint an inspiring teacher with a proven track record of outstanding practice. Iford Academy is a specialist educational provision for pupils who present with social, emotional and mental health needs. We use creative and dynamic approaches to ensure the learning and progress of our young people, working closely within the wider context of learning support. No day is ever the same and teaching methods outside the ‘norm’ are welcomed to be explored. Vocational and life skills are a big focus for our students and we have a wide varied curriculum that is fun to teach and to be part of our amazing team.
As the Class Teacher you would be expected to lead the learning of a class-team (pupils and staff). You will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for vulnerable learners by working in partnership. You will be highly skilled, creative and passionate in your teaching, and possess a track record of improving outcomes for young people. You will preferably have an understanding and experience of working with young people with additional needs including childhood trauma, alongside SEMH and ASC.
The ability to teach across a range of subjects is required, but the ability to teach Maths and/or English to SEN students would be advantageous. Applications from Primary level teachers, ECT’s and unqualified (but with experience) would also be welcomed. There are opportunities for leadership and management responsibilities for the right candidate. We are looking for candidates with an ambitious drive and commitment to improve the life chances of our young people. You will have a dynamic, exceptional and creative approach to improving the teaching and learning in a way that benefits all children. The opportunity for salaried leadership responsibilities is also available for the right candidate.
We will offer you the opportunity to excel, ensuring that you learn and grow as a professional, within a successful and fun yet focused learning environment, that ensures positive learning outcomes for all.
