Job Summary
This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, professional individual qualified in an appropriate discipline to join a forward-thinking college to develop and teach across a range of courses which are designed to develop and prepare young people for adulthood, independence and further study.
You will be part of the Step-up and Progress Hub team (formally known as Foundation Studies) that works within the Directorate of Health, Education and Service Industries and will primarily be working with learners who have a range of barriers to learning including learners with Special educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will plan, deliver and assess on a variety of accredited Entry and Level 1-2 programmes which focus on transition to independence, further study and work. The study programmes foster the principals of preparing for adulthood and also include maths, English and digital skills.
Experience of working with learners with Special Education Needs and Disabilities, learners with Education, Health and Care Plans and Neurodivergent learners is essential. You will be required to provide a supportive and professional environment that will promote the development of individual and groups of learners. You will be expected to be organised with excellent time management and administrative skills. You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and show a flexible and professional attitude.
You will ideally be educated to a minimum of level 3 and possess or be willing to work towards a relevant teaching qualification.
This post holds 662 delivery hours, per academic year as well as the 0.2 assessing expectation. This is to assess learners as they progress from voluntary hours in a workplace to paid employment with your support in a ‘job coach/assessor’ role.
The role will require you to embed the college’s values: Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, High Expectations and Responsibility
