Teacher's Success Story Role Description/Purpose The British Council Spain is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated professionals to join our Early Years programmes, which are delivered across a variety of contexts in Europe to children aged 2 to 5. Our Early Years provision is recognised for pioneering best practices in Early Childhood Education, contributing to the UK's leadership in international education and shared learning. Operating a nationwide network of teaching centres, British Council Spain provides English language instruction to over 30,000 students annually. In addition to direct teaching, we support English language learning through a robust exams operation and dynamic programmes in arts, education, and society. This part-time role involves supporting class teachers in both teaching and learning, as well as contributing to the care and well-being of young children. Timetables vary and may include both on-site and off-site delivery, primarily through extra-curricular English classes. If you are passionate about early childhood education and eager to be part of a globally respected organisation, we invite you to explore this opportunity to make a meaningful impact in young learners' lives. Role Accountabilities The British Council Spain is looking for caring, proactive, and collaborative individuals to join our Early Years team in supporting the delivery of high-quality English education to children aged 2 to 5. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating learning environment both on-site and off-site, contributing to the British Council's mission of excellence in Early Childhood Education. As part of the teaching team, you will assist teachers in planning, preparing, delivering, and assessing curricular activities to ensure children's learning is continuously supported and advanced. You will actively participate in classroom activities, help set up learning experiences, and respond to pupils' needs with effective language and questioning techniques. Your contribution will also include supporting the creation of interactive displays that extend learning beyond the classroom, maintaining a tidy and organized space, and ensuring the environment is safe and secure for all children. In off-site contexts, you will help coordinate the collection of children from the playground, assist with drop-offs, and ensure all children are accounted for once classes begin. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work with more than one group of children depending on the day's needs. This role involves close collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including class teachers, parents and carers, off-site school coordinators, the Early Years coordinator, customer service assistants, child protection officers, and teaching centre management. You will also support any initiatives introduced at the centre and contribute to the overall success of our Early Years programmes.
