The Teacher Assistant is assigned to the classroom Teacher as per the school’s needs After that time, the Assistant will undertake tasks assigned by the Extracurricular Activities Coordinator, who also serves as the Pastoral Support Officer.

  1. Instructional Support/ Under the guidance of the Teacher and as per Teacher’s instructions
  • Preparing lesson materials, bulletin boards, and teaching aids.
  • Supporting the teacher by providing additional support of the subject matter to the students when is required.
  • Assisting students with tasks individually or in small groups.
  • Demonstrations for skills like sports, crafts, etc.
  1. Student Supervision and Behavior Management
  • Supervising students across various environments, including classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds, to guarantee their safety and promote appropriate conduct.
  • Share responsibility equally with the teacher in ensuring the well-being and safety of students. In instances where the teacher is absent, take responsibility for the individual student or group of students.
  • Enforcing administrative policies and classroom procedures, maintaining discipline.
  • Assisting in emergency drills (e.g., fire drills, lockdowns, evacuation) and ensuring students follow safety protocols.
  • In the event of accidents, illnesses, or other emergencies, promptly informing the classroom teacher or someone in charge and, if deemed necessary, seeking for immediate assistance from the school’s clinic.
  • Monitoring and assisting special needs students when is needed as per the school’s instructions.
  1. Administrative and Organizational Duties
  • Distributing and collecting teaching materials, tests, and assignments.
  • Recording attendance and tracking student progress.
  • Supporting the Teacher in evaluating the necessary teaching resources (ensuring that classrooms are adequately equipped and well-stocked) and compiling inventory summaries.
  1. Collaboration with Staff and Parents
  • Attending staff meetings and serving on committees.
  • Participating in meetings with parents and documenting their specific needs or requests concerning their children; when appropriate, informing the teacher and school administration.
  1. Special Needs Support with close collaboration or as per the instructions of Inclusion Department
  • Providing assistive devices and ensuring accessibility.
  • Engaging in collaboration with therapists and psychologists while maintaining confidentiality regarding students with colleagues who are not directly involved, as well as with external parties.
  1. Support for Extracurricular Activities
  • Assisting in the preparation and execution of extracurricular events, such as school plays, sports days, or field trips.
  • Organizing recreational activities.
  • Supervising students during after-school programs or club activities.
  1. Supporting Emotional and Mental Well-Being
  • Observing and identifying signs of emotional or mental distress in students and reporting them to the appropriate staff (e.g., counselors or teachers).
  • Assisting in implementing strategies or accommodations for students with mental health needs, under teacher or specialist guidance.
  • Creating a nurturing and approachable presence for students needing emotional support.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding students and parents with colleagues who are not directly involved, as well as with external parties.
  1. Miscellaneous Duties
  • Participating in ongoing professional development or training sessions (e.g., workshops on special education, behavior management, or first aid).
  • Assisting young students with basic needs (e.g., restroom assistance).
  • Assisting with tasks assigned by school administration that contribute to the overall functioning and educational environment of the school (e.g., organizing materials in the library, tidying up classrooms, assisting with event setups, or supporting administrative staff with basic tasks).
