QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Elementary Teacher Certification (EC-6)
ESL certification required

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist with the implementation of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies at elementary campuses. Work with Emergent Bilingual students and ESL/bilingual certified classroom teachers to support the acquisition and acceleration of the English language.

EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of student teaching or approved internship (some teaching experience preferred).

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.
  4. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements. Collaborate with teachers to provide inclusion and pull-out support.
  5. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
  6. Facilitate LPAC Processes and complete required paperwork
  7. Provide support for TELPAS
  8. Attend meetings to provide input on EB students
  9. Manage ESL Paraprofessional
